Entrance to Jyran for the Amritsari food festival |
This blog is not about a train to Amritsar but an Amritsari food festival at Jyran, the tandoori restaurant at Sofitel BKC, Mumbai. Held to celebrate Baisakhi on 14th, the festival brought Master Chef finalist Ms Jyoti Arora from Amritsar.
Excellent
food – we had the signature set menu and chatted with Chef Jyoti. Who had
always enjoyed cooking for her family till her husband encouraged her to
audition for Master Chef India!
papad and a refreshing drink |
The
location is lovely – on the 4th floor and has great views of BKC. The
restaurant has a lot of outdoor seating too. It was my 1st visit to
Jyran and I came away impressed with the restaurant, the ambiance and the food.
Appetisers |
The food
was excellent – paya soup then starters (chicken seekh, chicken reshmi, mutton boti, prawn
tandoori and , followed by hefty Punjabi style main course. Maa ki dal, Raan,
chicken makhanwala, mutton Rara and chicken biryani. A feast for the taste
buds!
The mains |
Just in
case you think Jyran doesn’t do vegetarian food I saw the man seated at the
next table have an extensive vegetarian meal which he enjoyed.
The food
was well prepared and was neither oily nor overly masala-ed. Which was great!
Recommended
for those who love hearty Punjabi meals and tandoori cuisine.
Go on April 14th to celebrate Baisakhi. If you cant, go any
day – good food guarantee!
