Food Bloggers Association of India www.foodbloggerassociation.com  invited me and a few other bloggers  to brunch on a recent Sunday at Canvas Lounge Palladium, at High Street Phoenix. It was to  launch the Sunday brunch at Canvas Lounge and also to  celebrate the  1st anniversary of Balagan www.ilovebalagan.com

Canvas the lounge bar is a well known venue for live entertainment in Mumbai. Now under new management, Canvas has a new chef to up the ante on their food offerings and added Sunday Brunch to their repertoire.

Balagan is an international luxe party concept from London and New York brought to Mumbai by event and party experts, Pia Shivdasani and Devina Lason.

Once a month, Balagan brings together live entertainment, electronic dance music, globe-trotters and trend setters under one roof, for the most revolutionary parties you simply can’t forget with mouth-watering food and a champagne brunch setting.
The Balagan Champagne Brunch & Sundown Party happens at various venues in Mumbai, you can follow them on FB and get on their entry list to attend some of Mumbai’s hottest parties.

As one enters you hear the music and a buzz and know you’ve arrived at a “happening” party.

There were a variety of Balagan style props to add to the party mood – neon colour hats, Venetian style masquerade masks and the most wacky sunglasses J J you can see us having fun wearing these in the photographs above.

Canvas Lounge is an amazing venue with its huge double height ceilings and windows offering a great vista of the city. There was a great singer, I unfortunately didn’t catch her name….also canned music when she took a break.

The bar had a selection of exotic cocktails, apart from the usual. I stuck to my favourite Bloody Mary which was nice.

An array of cold cuts, cheese and fruit were laid out.

Hot starters were being served at tables – an interesting looking stuffed zucchini one, also salsa cheese dumplings very good J and a variety of chicken starters very average.

The main course menus were on the tables and our group ordered a variety so we could graze and sample the fare.

For the main course, the menu had five options to choose from: Pasta Mama Rosa, Porcini Risotto, Ratatouille Vol au Vents with Pesto Rice, Pollo Cacciatore with Pesto Rice and Herbs-Crusted Fish with Cous Cous and Olive-Caper Sauce. The Ratatouille vol au vent was good. The chicken and fish average in taste.

Unfortunately I could try the tiramisu and mud pie.

A great afternoon in a super venue. The food could have been a bit  better –I am sure it will improve. A good place to catch up with friends – with a lively vibe.
