We went there on Holi day
for a “pit stop” lunch driving back from Deolali. Located in Kalyan before the
start of the Nashik Mumbai expressway.
Cute “Punjabi
ambience” with lawns and several
lifestyle statues of men, women and children in traditional Punjabi attire.
It has seating in the wide
verandah around the building and a huge indoor air conditioned section.
It has a nice rustic look
and feel with a Punjab ambiance.
There were three of us. We
went through the creative looking menu and ordered the Murg Sarson Kebab (an
Oye Punjabi special) from the tandoori section. We followed this with parathas
from the breakfast menu. We had green peas paratha, gobi paratha and mutton
anda paratha. Each was served with dahi, chana dal and aloo matter bhaji. The parathas
were stuffed full and very well made.
Beer is available and it
has ample parking space. The main entrance is flanked by a paan shop so one can
end the meal with a custom made paan
Cost – very cost effective:
a good meal for under 400 per head
Verdict: we would visit again, likely to take visitors from overseas, and certainly whenever we are in the vicinity – travelling on NH3
