Villa Vandre – good food & personalised attention



This cute 14 seat eatery in a leafy bylane of Kantwadi has struck the right balance providing an international selection  of good food and personalised service.

Helmed by a chef known for his great food (he started a catering service after working abroad for several years) and ably assisted by his wife, and a good staff; I went back to this place a mere 5 days after my 1st visit. Both times for lunch

It’s a friendly lively place and we enjoyed fresh narial pani (coconut water) both times. Here’s what we had (over the 2 visits):

Sunday Chicken













Starters:
Marinated sweet peppers with zucchini and olives
Garden greens with fresh fruit and scarmoza
Garlic bread

Mains
Maria Cote crepes – delicious wish they’d stuffed more into it
Greek Chicken – good if you choose chicken
Prawn curry (outstanding)
Ravioli (mushroom stuffed) – delicious wish they’d stuffed more into it
Blackened catch of the day (Fish) – good served w/fries &  veggies
Sunday Chicken curry (recommended for chicken curry fans – its really good)

Dessert
Fresh fruit tart with marzipan (avoid)
Belgian dark chocolate mousse (excellent)
Bread and butter pudding (ok)  

Tip: no reservations so get there early to be sure of a seat! Or you’ll have to sit on the chairs outside

I’m going to be a regular here – will return for breakfast next
